The fire broke out at Penn Waste Recycling in the 3600 block of Mia Brae Drive in Manchester Township just before 9 p.m. Mar. 8, Fox 43 reports.
Approximately 40 employees were in the build when the fire started, the outlet reports citing York Area Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Matt Arnold.
The "stubborn fire" was finally knocked down around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday but crews were cleaning up until around 4 a.m., York Area United Fire and Rescue said in a Facebook post.
The injured firefighter has been released from the hospital, reports WGAL News 8. The firefighter's condition and details about their injury were not made public.
The cause of the fire is thought to be related to the processing machinery, officials told the press.
The damage is estimated at $8 to 12 million, WGAL News 8 reports citing Battalion Chief Brett Graham, with York Area United Fire and Rescue.
The center will remain closed until Apr. 15, according to a release by Penn Township police.
It is unclear if this will cause any disruptions to municipal trash collections as Amanda Moley, a spokesperson for Penn Waste, previously told York Dispatch it should not.
